Shell Petroleum Development Company Joint Venture (SPDC JV) has lifted the force majeure, declared on August 4, 2015, on gas supplies to the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) from the Eastern Gas Gathering System (EGGS-1) following the repair of a leaking line.
The SPDC spokesman, Precious Okolobo, in a statement, said that the joint investigation team which visited the site said that the leak was caused by a crude theft connection, apparently installed by suspected thieves who thought the line was transporting crude oil.
The SPDC is Shell’s Nigerian joint venture with the state oil company, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The NNPC holds a 49 per cent stake in the NLNG and the rest is owned.
